The Immigration & Nationality Act (INA Section 265) requires all non-immigrants and permanent residents, including international students, scholars, and their families, to report any change of address in the U.S. to the federal government. You will initially report your address on the immigration Form I-94 (Arrival-Departure Record, which you complete when you enter the U.S. A portion of the card is given to you (usually stapled in your passport) and a portion is kept by the immigration service (USCIS) for its records. Immigration regulations require that you report any changes in address after arrival in the United States within ten days of moving.

F-1 and J-1 students and scholars will report their changes of address through Yale University.

For F-1 and J-1 students, you only need to update your addresses in the Student Information System (SIS). Click here for the instructions.

For graduated Yale students currently on F-1 OPT go to http://www.oiss.yale.edu/sevis/optupdate.asp  to update your addresses and employment information

For J-1 Scholars, please go to this page to update your local address.

For H-1B, O-1 visa status, and permanent resident, you must report your change of address directly to the immigration service (USCIS) by using the form AR-11 or changing online at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa
