Most students either fly to John F. Kennedy (JFK) or LaGuardia Airports (LGA) in New York City, Newark International Airport in Newark, New Jersey or Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT.  New Haven does have a small airport (Tweed); but it is currently only possible to get a connecting flight from Philadelphia.

Shuttle buses are available from each airport, generally a two to three hours ride from New York or Newark, or a one hour ride from Hartford.  When making your transportation arrangements, you may meet individuals who offer to drive you to New Haven. Do not take their offers. Always make certain that your transportation is arranged with a reputable company. (See below for details about two of the most popular shuttle services.)

If you have only a little luggage, you might consider taking a bus from the airport to Grand Central Station in Manhattan, then transferring to Metro North train to New Haven.  This is the least expensive way to travel to New Haven, but is longer and very difficult if you have luggage.

If you are arriving at Newark International Airport, you can take the Amtrak train from the airport directly to New Haven.  The cost is $68 one way and you can purchase a ticket in the airport.  Once you deplane you will use AirTrain for the short ride to the Amtrak train station.  (http://www.panynj.gov/airtrainnewark/ and www.amtrak.com)

If you arrive at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT (about 60 miles north of New Haven), you can use Connecticut Limousine to travel to New Haven.  The fare is about $42 one way.

Connecticut Limousine charges $65 one-way to and from JFK and LGA. Drop off and pick up and drop off is at the Connecticut Limousine terminal at 600 Long Wharf Drive in New Haven. You will need to take a taxi from their terminal to the Yale campus. Tel. (800) 472-LIMO [5466] http://www.ctlimo.com.

Prime Time Shuttle charges $52 one-way from JFK and LGA for Yale students (new students should have a copy of their letter of admission.) Drop off and pick up is at Phelps Gate on the Yale campus. (800) RED-VANS [733-8267]  http://www.2theairport.com/
